While strolling through Michaels, I’m usually overwhelmed with feelings of excitement as I see random things that inspire the next craft project. And when the holiday stuff comes out, ohhh boy, that takes everything to a whole other level; I giddily pace up and down every aisle, wide-eyed, and trying my best to keep my drooling at bay.
However, the last time I went in, I was overwhelmed alright.
Overwhelmed by the ridiculous price tag on a bag of pine cones. You know, those knobby brown things you find on the ground?
Well, I took matters into my own hands (literally), and with my MIL started picking up pine cones on a fall walk.
That was just a long way of introducing how you can save a buck or two (or a lot in this case), by prepping pine cones yourself for crafts or holiday decorating (or just for fun because it’s free and someone is selling them for 100% more!)
So, first things first. Collect them.
If you have no shame like us, you’ll even go under other peoples’ trees and pick them off their lawn. Hey, free lawn-cleaning for you, neighbour!
