I hope your weekend was relaxing & well-spent. We had some good ol’ family time visiting a local farm, and going to the mall (before the holiday chaos begins).
And now it is raining quite heavily, making me extremely glad I raked the leaves before they got soggy & heavy… I guess pulling that leg muscle was kinda worth it! ;)
We continue on in our Glam Christmas series with a timeless tree trimmer that really doesn’t need too much colour or glitz to be noticed.
I mean, what’s more classy and show-stopping than pearls?
To get this beaut, you’ll need a blank glass ornament (I got mine from Michaels). Because we’ve already established I apparently have a hoarding problem, I won’t even tell you how long I’ve had these puppies in storage for…
I again got them on clearance many Christmases ago and have been meaning to use them. And now, for my husband’s sake (who patiently lives with my growing inventory of craft goods), they are being dusted off & put to use.
Luckily they have these strings of pearls for 99 cents at Michaels, so I picked up a small bundle using a coupon (I used 10 of them for the medium-sized ornament which did the trick… yup, this girl ain’t cheap!),
and brought out some black velvet ribbon, and a glue gun..
I first glued the ornament top on, as it is meant to easily come off, but I wanted it to stay put & hold up the weight of the pearls. Make sure it’s glued on tight.
Then, with a glob of glue, I attached one end of a string of pearls on (I left the pearls on the string they were attached with).
And just placed globs of glue every so often, securing the pearl string, and wrapping it around. Pretty easy, and fun!
When it was finished, I just tied some ribbon on the end.
In the end, the pearls seemed to take a wavy life of their own, and I could have tightened up the spaces a bit more with glue, but I liked the overall effect & look.
I love the contrast of the soft velvet with the hard, shiny pearls…
very pretty. :)
I hope you liked this, and I look forward to sharing more easy tips on adding a touch of glamour for a beautiful Christmas!
