favourite projects of twenty twelve.
Jane @ urbanejane.1:25 AM 4 comments

As the year draws to a close, it's been fun reflecting on all that has made this year one of my favourite thus far; with my hubby and I getting pregnant with our first baby, I've been overwhelmed with thankfulness and a huge sense of humility, realizing this is a gift that not everyone who desires it, gets to experience.
We've also had the blessing of purchasing our second home, while having our previous one used as an income property.

But enough about moi life, let's recap some of the projects that have made this year just that much more enjoyable. Grab a cuppa' somethin' & join me on this walk down memory lane... ;)

liebster award

I'm usually one of those people that when they receive anything of the positive nature (ex. a compliment, gift, award, or the yummy last morsel of a communal dish), I get really awkward.

thankfully there is no direct human-to-human interaction when blogging, so you're safe from seeing me get weird. ;)

I recently received a Liebster award (and several homework questions to think about) from Lucy at design fluff (and have also received this from Nancy at A Life Designed awhile ago, but forgot to thank her for it! *tsk*tsk* where are my manners?!). Thank you, ladies! :)
It is always so much fun to get to know fun facts about people in the blogosphere, and to turn around and share the award with others!

Here are Lucy's questions, and my answers:

refinished faux bamboo dresser.

Why, hello!
I hope you are sufficiently stuffed like a turkey (pun intended ;) from the holiday festivities. I know I am! We had our family Christmas dinner & gift exchange (which we do 'yankee swap' style, but add our own variation to amp up the competitiveness & stress of the gift exchange). It's always the highlight of the evening & filled with roaring laughter, cut-throat action, and usually a few people who end up completely shafted by the end of the night... I guess that's how my family enjoys the holidays. haha

Although in total my hubby and I will be attending three family Christmas dinners (one early in the new year), and there are moments of R&R, this holiday has been mainly packed with the renovations of the new home.

Just thought I'd share a good ol' cup of randomness, and give you an idea of the lovely (and not so lovely) happenings this Christmas season:

let's start with the good stuff:

tree ornaments at home & work
Jane @ urbanejane.8:33 AM 2 comments

Something I decided to start this year was collect ornaments which mark significant milestones in our lives, and add it to the tree... I thought I would share the start of the collection with you.

This Pottery Barn ornament represents when my hubby popped the question on New Years 2009 on a trip to NYC. He sat me down in a gazebo in Central Park where his friend planted a guitar so he could sing a song he wrote before he proposed... all while a drunken man sat two feet away talking to us as he sang. It was uber romantic.

refinished antique dresser & DIY dotty drawer liners!
Jane @ urbanejane.8:51 PM 18 comments

Hello!
We've finally moved into our new home, and it's been a bit of a whirlwind living among boxes and some funky decor choices from the previous owners.
Knowing our timeline is pretty tight before the baby arrives (I'm 33 weeks preggers! Crazy!!) one of my first focuses has been the future nursery.

The first project I decided to tackle was the change table, which I opted for an antique dresser that I found of CL for a whopping $25.
