Since I'm in the middle of a few projects, I thought I'd might share some hints of things to come & a bit of my week thus far...
Today I visited Lee Valley for the first time. Let me just say, this chick was like a kid in a candy store!! I have never seen so many knobs & furniture diddies in my entire life!!

hey hey hey!

While perusing a Goodwill awhile ago, I came across this:

Quite the looker, eh? (as this Canadian would say...).

easy paint chip art
Jane @ urbanejane.10:40 AM 9 comments

When it comes to art, I'm really indecisive. I either will absolutely love something, but not love the price, or see something that is pretty reasonable, but not as... wow, you know? Plus, it doesn't help that I get bored super easily, especially when it comes to stuff I put on the walls. It just doesn't make sense to invest in something I'll want to put on CL the next month.

Refinished Campaign Credenza

Something's been a'brewing at our house.
I've been secretly doing happy dances and giggling like it's nobody's business.
Why, you ask?
Some hints to whet the appetite...

Glass Paint Galore
Jane @ urbanejane.5:34 PM 14 comments

This past weekend, I had a bit of a crash course in glass paint.

I have been seeing some amazing glass projects over Pinterest and wanted to try some projects of my own. Not really sure of what product would be best, I ended up trying almost all of the brands offered at Michaels (thank goodness for the sale this weekend!) & this is what I discovered while using the different products:

hobak jun - korean side dish (and a lil' therapy) ;)
Jane @ urbanejane.6:35 PM 5 comments

I don't consider myself a cook... well, neither does my family
(just ask them; they'll first laugh in your face, then with all seriousness, say 'no.')
It is amazing that I haven't had psychotherapy when it comes to this... cooking thing.

I have been known for bringing 'muffin tops' to family dinners, which were meant to be large cookies. I thought it would be so cool to bring everyone large chocolate chip cookies, but unfortunately they didn't expand horizontally, but rather vertically and looked like mushroom caps.
I still brought them thinking someone would be adventurous. I was wrong.

Refinished harvest table
Jane @ urbanejane.11:07 AM 13 comments

Hello hello!

It's been wonderfully snowy around here lately (I guess it decided to finally arrive after Christmas), so it has put a wrench in my plan to paint anything outdoors. Which leaves me with an opportunity to post about one of my biggest projects to date (I did this in November of 2010! wow, talk about procrastination)

I managed to find a solid wood harvest table on CL & immediately saw potential (it had a cracked coat of white paint all over it, and it revealed it's turquoise stain underneath).

You can see some of the colour peeking out on the bottom of those legs (aren't the legs purrrty???)

reminders never hurt :)
Jane @ urbanejane.3:46 PM 4 comments

It seems like yesterday when the Christmas decorations were put away & the radio stopped playing Christmas tunes 24/7. Can you believe that Valentines Day is right around the corner? I already see store displays full of heart-shaped boxes and cinnamon hearts!

well, luckily this craft isn't seasonal. In fact, it won't be coming down after Valentines Day!
I guess it wasn't really made for any occasion, but to serve as a little, lovely reminder (we can always use some of those...) :)

cake walk.
Jane @ urbanejane.6:11 PM 6 comments

Every once in awhile when I find myself in home decor stores, I find myself eyeing cake stands and wanting (at least) one in our kitchen.
Well, I happened to make one the other day (it was ridiculously easy!) & I have to admit that these are now to blame for making baked goods look too good to leave alone (and they're not helping with any new years resolutions to be healthier either!)

Here's all that I needed:

only the finest china (found for 99 cents in Goodwill, complete with grazing sheep) & a glass candle holder (a Goodwill find for $1.10).

Ikea RITVA pillow hack: aka. Screen printing... the ghetto-fabulous way.
Jane @ urbanejane.9:46 PM 10 comments

Growing up, I was warned not to envy other people covet their things.
Unfortunately I have been looking at many a decorating magazine and have secretly wanted the gorgeous pillows that have prettified beds and couches alike.

an easy way to organize (& keep your marbles!)

I saw this idea on Pinterest, which I just joined recently, and loved just how easy it was to do!

all I got were these:

coffee table transformed into a bench.

Hey, hey, hey!

I'm in pretty good spirits right now. It could be the yummy pull apart pizza bread I just had (left overs from New Years eve) :) or it could be the fact that last night I tackled a project that's been sitting around in our cramped office for a year awaiting transformation. Probably both.

ready for 2012!
Jane @ urbanejane.12:10 AM 3 comments

As the holiday season is slowing to a halt and the reality settles in of how overstuffed our bellies are, how many wonderful friends and family we managed to catch up with and how excited we are to face the new year head on, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness of how amazing this past year was & excited for what the future brings.

My husband managed to surprise me on Christmas morning with a little contraption for blogging bliss...
