5 easy diy jewelry ideas.

okay, I'm by no means an expert on jewelry.
In fact, the extent to my jewelry wearing is one item (be it earrings, or a necklace), and my wedding ring.
Even wearing my knock-off necklace out in public is a big step for me, as it is a bit 'hey, look at me', which is not my typical style.

Well, I decided to try my hand at homemade jewelry, and wanted to share five of them with you!

For my first piece of jewelry, I just needed the following items (and a sewing needle, not pictured).

to create the gem-like beads, I rolled the FIMO into a ball, and with a sharp exacto knife, I just started to cute straight edges off the ball. 

Then using the needle, I just created holes large enough for the thin chain to go through.

I then followed the instructions and baked them accordingly. What I was left with were three homemade beads (I left them a bit rough around the edges to give it a bit of character ;)

In the end, I had a simple, yet elegant necklace.

Using the left over shavings from the beads, I carefully pressed the edges into a flower...

and using a FIMO ring I made and spray painted gold, I attached it onto the baked flower with some Gorilla glue.

And what I now have is a unique flower ring... all made out of clay!

For the next necklace, I found a great tutorial on how to make an Anthropology-inspired 'love' necklace using wire, and some embroidery string (I didn't end up using the feather bead. Maybe for some other piece of jewelry).

After wrapping the string around the wire, I began twisting it around my pliers until I got a shape I wanted... (check out my crusty cuticles. make.me.wanna.barf.)

Rather than twisting out a 'love', I decided to make it a bit more personalized for a friend of mine. It may be hard to see what it says, but let's just say she's a chronic 'um' user... :)

For my next piece of jewelry, I was so inspired by ideas I've seen on the web and just loved the idea of having a secret code to personalize it. 

Using a morse code chart, some beads and a chain,

I just strung them on, and I had a morse code necklace!

This one spells out 'love' (thought I'd spread the love after rejecting love with the last one ;)

And with my last necklace, I decided to give clay another go.

I used 'granite white' PREMO clay and the other following stuff.

Using a pen (I'm high-tech like that), I flattened it out,

And cut out a heart.

Then I used a needle to create two holes,

and baked it.

et voila... a really cute heart necklace.

Well, there you have it.

Well, the rest of this weekend is a bit of a rainy one for us in the T-dot (my fingers are crossed that my grandmother's birthday bbq is all sunshine!)
