an ooglay vase.

Good Friday, everyone~!

I hope your morning was alarm and traffic free (like mine was!). I got a little too excited for the opportunity to sleep in on a weekday that I kind of over-did it and might be suffering from a headache for the rest of the day. tsk tsk.

Well, before I go out and tackle some much-needed gardening & coffee-ing with a friend, I thought I'd share with you one of my lastest second-hand finds: the ooglay vase!

It had a weird exterior and had me doing triple-takes at the store... is it trying to look like coral? like tree bark? like a scab?

I was so confused yet intrigued that I had to take it home for $4.

Even my dog is confused when it arrives.

It had someone's name on it. Not sure if they're famous, or if it's a high school student from down the street. Either way, I continued pondering how to help this thing.

For the outside, I gave it a couple of sprays with gold metallic spray paint (my latest go-to),

And for the inside, surprisingly, the disgusting interior provided some inspiration...

With the help of Martha's Beach Glass paint, I tried to match the existing colour and give it new life.

When it was finished, it is a step up from it's previous state... and probably something Malibu Barbie would want for her penthouse (not the look I was aiming for, but I'm okay with that :)

I am a huge fan of the texture!

And the coral/tree bark/scabby vase is still looking fab with the turquoise.

Now... I'm at a loss of what to fill it with: flowers? books? or be pragmatic and fill it with unpaid bills?

Okay, that just about killed the mood.

As for now (until I find another place for it where it's not so matchy-matchy with my other gold accessories), I'm glad I gave new life to the once-heeeedeeeous vase.

Have a wonderfully slothful day!
