wow, long time since the last post.
I cringe whenever I look at it dating to almost a year ago.
It would be nice to catch up over a Starbucks, but I’ll keep it short n’ sweet on the past year. Here it goes!
we renovated our basement and rented it out (by ‘we’ I mean my husband and FIL did all of the lag work, while I approved or disapproved of the changes) :o)
More pictures to come of the transformation!
My birthday came and went (now I am definitely in the late-20s zone). It was celebrated with amazing food at the distillery district in Toronto, watching a Soul Pepper production of A Midsummer Nights Dream and with a little bauble from the Mr.
A wonderful way to become a late-20-something.
I became acquainted with one of the funniest, spunkiest, most lovingly honest people… annnd she had to move to BC right when we started to get attached (thank goodness for FaceTime!)
a closer picture of some stuff we devoured at high tea at the Windsor Arms hotel. I couldn’t help but feel bad for eating these pieces of art (they were as delicious as they were pretty!)
The hubs and I flew off to Korea as our last big trip (secretly I hope it’s not our last trip though!) before he became a student again. this is my older brother and his adorable daughter, Esther.
Looking at him (with his cheesy bunny ear finger motion thing) makes me wonder how he could have been a source of intimidation and fear in my younger years… :)
we met up with amazing friends, had some fantastic eats…
…were reminded of poor grammar and even worse knock offs…
… we took in the history…
… we did an unhealthy amount of shopping…
… and snuggled up with loved ones (my freshly born nephew and I at the DMZ).
My beautiful friend, Sarah (she’s uber talented with a baking blog like no other), got engaged and we went to Montreal to celebrate. Clubbing after marriage is very different from when I was single. It’s a strange mix of feeling cheesy dressing like a hootchie mama, to feeling really awesome because I can dance like a fool without trying to impress anyone. Come to think of it… maybe clubbing’s better after marriage!
I do have to say, though, that it reminded me of how thankful I am to come home to my man!
My cousin, Mike, and I drove up to see my little brother for some good ol’ family time. It started off as a huge family camping trip, but it whittled down to just us three. Needless to say, spelunking in caves, eating amazing food, watching a light show on Parliament hill, watching episode after episode of Dragon’s Den and just hanging out with two of my favourite guys was awesome.
we also did the nasty. At the CNE this summer we ate the Krispy kreme cheeseburger and washed it down with some deep fried cola. Was it worth shaving 5 years of my life off? My arteries are screaming a resounding no!
Sarah got married! Such a pretty bride (and a super calm one as well!)
…aaaand we got a child. a very furry one. and hyper at that. She’s 9 months young, and I happened to surprise my hub with her (he was really scared of dogs, so what better way to help him get over his fears than to bring one home without him knowing!). I’m such a thoughtful wife.
She’s so happy and cute that it was impossible from keeping her out of our affections. My hubs is now officially in love with her (yay!).
Well, there is still more, but I’ll spare you the details.
I have many project updates (as I have been still tampering with spray paint, varnish, power tools and the like) while I’ve been MIA from the blog.
More to come!
